Nursing and Care: The Introduction of Digital Nursing Applications (DiPA)
Recognizing that the healthcare crisis also affects the elderly, Germany introduced Digital Nursing Applications (DiPA). Similar to DiGAs, these are digital tools designed specifically for patients in need of long-term care and their caregivers.
A DiPA might include:
Cognitive training for dementia patients.
Falls prevention exercises.
Communication tools for relatives to coordinate care. These applications are reimbursed by the Long-Term Care Insurance (Pflegeversicherung), supporting the German government's goal of "ambulatory before stationary"—enabling people to stay in their own homes longer through digital assistance.
